• During this course you will learn to focus your research ideas, craft concise research questions, construct a research method and analysis plan, dissect RFPs, assemble a budget and accompanying justification, and develop successful writing skills and habits for academic grant writing. Examples of all these components will be shared and practiced individually and shared on class discussion boards and comments.

• You will learn the Art, Architecture, Mechanics and Attitude required for great grant writing as part of a successful academic career. You'll hone your scientific writing skills with regular timed exercises and assignments. Writing and getting new ideas out of your head into figures, text, and tables is not always easy but during this course you will transform your design thinking, writing habits, and mindset that will together set you up for long term academic success.  

• During the course you will develop three written proposals that build upon each other beginning with a one-page pitch for $10K and ending with a full proposal for a federal agency of YOUR choice.  At course completion you will have a working understanding of all components of a proposal and several writing products, charts, tables, and figures ready to use in future proposal submissions.
